Nigerian Investor Launched

Nigerian Investor was born out of necessity. It was born to fill a gap. A gap that will be instrumental in re-defining Nigeria in the 21st century.

In late 2001, three Nigerian young men got together to address a common problem faced by Nigerians in the Diaspora - having up to date information to help in making sound investment decisions in Nigeria.

As at the time, access to information on investment opportunities for the local populace was limited. Although most dailies carried the daily results of trading activities on the Nigerian Stock Exchange ("NSE"}, there was still a dearth of information: Information on company profiles; financial performance; market sentiments; and other such qualitative information, were virtually non-existent.

Adding to the dearth of information on capital market opportunities was the fact that access to information on alternative investment vehicles (money market instruments, real estate, commodities, etc) was also non-existent.

With Nigerians in Nigeria having it so bad, the situation could be no better for those in the Diaspora.

Fortunately, access to information on investment opportunities in Nigeria has improved in the last couple of years. The NSE now has a functional website that delivers data on-line. Several brokers have their own websites, and make information readily available to the public. Subscribers today can even get information on shares onto their mobile phones.

However, there is still something lacking in the market. There exists no independent source for getting comprehensive information on Nigerian companies (both public and private). That is, until now.

Enter Nigerian Investor, an idea whose time has come.

Nigerian Investor is a web portal that provides Nigerians abroad and at home, up to date and timely information on opportunities for wealth creation in Nigeria.

NI, has the portal's founders fondly call it, focuses primarily on investments in the capital and money markets. The transparency inherent in
these two markets makes them ideal for investors that are located outside Nigeria.

NI provides investors with information they need to make, consolidate or exit investments. This information is supplied online, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Specifically, NI provides investors with the following:

1. News items - NI offers news items on the economy, government policies, companies and industries, etc

2. Company profiles on both public and private companies - The portals company profiles, called NI-360 profiles (TM) - provide investors with
detailed information about a company's operations, management, corporate governance, future plans, etc

3. Stock performance metrics for all the instruments on the NSE - NI comes with a set of tools that allow investors to access data on the performance of any stock quoted on the NSE. The most innovative of these tools is the Share Monitor (TM), a java enabled tool that lets investors chart the performance of any group of shares over as much as a five year time period

4. The NI community - No portal would be complete without a community of like- minded members. NI is no exception. NIC(TM), Nigerian Investor's membership community, offers avenues for registered members to share insights and thoughts on capital market investments

5. Access to world-class stock-broking services - NI focuses solely on empowering NIC members and the general public with information. As such NI does not engage in actual trading functions. NIC members can execute their trades by working with any of the top Nigerian stock-broking firms that NI has partnered with. NIC members get a concessionary pricing for trades made through our partners

Our mission is simple. Help investment inflows into Nigeria from abroad be put to profitable use for the Nigerian economy.
